And this year for batch graduating in 2019, already more than 650 placement/internship drives have been conducted till February 2019 with leading industry giants (more than 90% being MNCs). Students who did an architecture program through the university got 100% placement in the companies. Some of the companies which came for the placement in the LPU such as – Al Rakha Group, Green Vision Architects, AKTC-Aga Khan Trust for Culture (Afghanistan), Capital Region Development Authority (Kabul), Total Environment Builders, Wagma Designs etc. Not about the placements only, LPU also provides the internship to the students of architecture program International Placements: Apart from the placement of students in India, LPU also makes efforts for placing International students around their home locations or placing Indian students abroad. Tashi Tobgay (B.Plan.) and Sonam Jamtsho(B.Plan.) serving as Urban Planner, Thimpu Thromde, Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, Bhutan. International Internship • Tanisha Kalra, Gurshan Singh, Animesh, Arafat, Jagjeet Kumar and Robin G Paul (B.Arch, Batch 2013-2018) completed their internships from Spain, Germany, Dubai and London. • Even thou Architecture student of LPU got a reputed position at DFI, Delhi • Prerna Saxena (B.Arch., Batch 2013-2018) is working as an Architect in Design Forum International, Delhi. Harsh (Student of B.Plan, Batch 2013-2017) posted as Project Associate in All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILGS), Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Sourav Kumar Pradhan (Student Of M.Plan, Batch 2016-18) Appointed as Project Officer/Consultant in Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. As it was all about the Placements now, I would like to share the Innovative teaching of LPU like – • Learning through own Projects: Regular site visits of students and gaining their knowledge on the latest construction techniques and implement into their design projects. • Educational tours: Students had taken to educational tours to complement in-class learning. B. Arch and Diploma students gained an exciting learning experience through Tool House Workshop in Mumbai and, a guided trip to Sanchi Stupa in Madhya Pradesh. • Real World Projects: Students Learn about Real World Projects Through Industry Visits. Like B.Design(Interior and Furniture Design) students gained a complementary understanding of in-class teaching and real-world projects after attending CDGI blow drying workshop and visiting Lanford Tile Industry in Gujarat. • Fascinating Interactions: Fascinating Interaction at Working Abode of the Master Architect. World Renowned Architect B.V. Doshi is one of the most important figures in South Indian Architecture. LPU Students got the chance to interact at his working abode in Sangath, Ahmedabad. Moreover, LPU has Inculcating Entrepreneurship To Build Job Providers of The Future. • Working on Live Projects with the Corporations and National Trusts such as students worked on Live Projects with Punjab Municipal Infrastructural corporation (PMIDC) for the Project of Geographic Information Survey of Nawanshahr City Property and Amenities. The project is to map the physical infrastructure of the city. • Also did Live Project of Listing and Documenting Heritage Building in Doaba Region with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH). Students applauded by media for documenting and listing of heritage buildings of Doaba region. The documentation of Sarai Noormahal has already been done by students and the whole listing of heritage buildings in Jalandhar and Doaba region is expected to take four to five months. • Signed MoU with NIUA, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Whereas Department of Urban Planning has conducted a series of workshops and expert lectures as part of the “Academia Engagement on Decentralized Sanitation” under Sanitation Capacity Building Platform of National Institute of Urban Affairs, an apex research body of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, New Delhi.
